Boni National Reserve is a conservation area located in the Ijara District of Kenya’s North Eastern Province. It was established as a refuge for elephants. The reserve encompasses an area of 1,339 square kilometers. In 1976, it was officially designated as a dry season refuge for elephants in the Ijara District, Lamu District, and Somalia. The Boni Reserve adjoins Somalia and is called after the indigenous hunting community that inhabits the area.
