Apoka Rest Camp
Apoka Rest Camp is an affordable safari accommodation situated in the heart of Kidepo Valley National Park, in proximity to the park headquarters. Apoka Rest Camp is managed and overseen by the Uganda Wildlife Authority. Apoka Rest Camp comprises sixteen self-sufficient cottages, each equipped with comfortable mattresses and mosquito netts. The rooms are designed in an African architectural style and maintain optimum ventilation despite the absence of air conditioning. Remaining here necessitates greater foresight; one must plan in advance what provisions, such as food and beverages, will be required to sustain the entirety of one’s visit to the park. The Apoka Rest Camp comprises fourteen bandas, each equipped with two beds; nevertheless, the accommodations lack private facilities.
Apoka Rest Camp
Apoka Rest Camp boasts an expansive and open terrain favoured for camping. If you like to camp, you may do so; however, you must supply your own camping equipment, as the lodge only offers a camping site. The resort lacks a functioning restaurant; you must bring your own food for sustenance. We advise you to procure your food from Kampala, Mbale, Gulu, and other reliable urban centres that may provide cuisine to your liking. The camp is equipped with refrigerators, and you are permitted to bring frozen meat. Markets offer eggs, bread, and readymade soups, and one can create a stew using various ingredients, including vegetables, meat, or poultry.
Alternative lodging in Kidepo Valley National Park: Kidepo Savannah Lodge
This pristine lodge is situated on the periphery of one of Uganda’s most spectacular national parks. Kidepo Savannah Lodge is the latest and most secluded property of Nature Lodges. This lodge pays tribute to this natural gem, which has received numerous international awards as one of Africa’s premier parks. The lodge is about 500 metres from the Kalokudo gate, in close proximity to the park. It offers stunning vistas of the expansive Narus Valley, Mount Morungole, and the remote mountain ranges that delineate the border with Southern Sudan. The resort was influenced by the savannah landscape, meadows, rocky outcrops, and the Karamojong tribe, characterised by their traditional manyattas and vibrant blankets. The resort opted for either the luxurious self-contained safari tents or the more comfortable lazy camping tents to blend in rather than stand out.
Apoka Rest Camp
Apoka Safari Lodge is constructed for comfort, albeit its secluded position. Ample, secluded cottages are situated around a rocky kopje that overlooks the Narus River, each including a screened porch, an outdoor stone tub (perfect for a starlit dip), and meticulously created furnishings by local artists. The fauna is plentiful – including lions, leopards, cheetahs, elephants, buffalo, giraffes, and zebras – and can frequently be observed from the comfort and seclusion of your suite or from the refreshing waters of our natural rock pool.
Adere Safari Lodge
Adere Safari Lodge is a luxury establishment situated on the periphery of Kidepo Valley National Park, offering a distinctive natural environment that enables guests to experience animals intimately while unwinding by the pool, thereby creating memorable and transformative safari experiences in Africa. Adere Safari Lodge offers exclusive safari cottages with luxurious amenities, situated in the isolated wilderness of Kidepo Park, providing an unparalleled real African experience.
Camping at Kidepo Valley National Park
Camping in Kidepo National Park represents one of the most genuine methods to engage with wildlife. In addition to being a more economical option for visiting the park, your Uganda safari tour enables intimate encounters with the wildlife. Camping occurs on the ridges of the Narus Valley within Kidepo National Park.
This region in Kidepo serves as the primary water source throughout the dry season, attracting all wildlife to hydrate. Your Uganda wildlife trip features an armed guide for your protection against wild animals. A fire is maintained throughout the night to deter animals from the area.
