Day 1: Arusha to Tarangire National Park
We will collect you from your accommodation, and following an introduction to the guide and chef, we will proceed to Tarangire National Park, a two-hour drive renowned for its varied topography. The park is renowned for its plethora of Ancient Baobab trees and boasts the highest concentration of elephants in the nation, offering distinctive opportunities to witness the interactions among elephant families. We will conduct a game drive in the park based on recorded sightings of animals, primarily carnivores like as lions, cheetahs, and leopards, which are more elusive, while herbivores like giraffes, wildebeest, and zebras are abundant throughout the park. Subsequently, we will proceed to the Tarangire River picnic area to relish the picturesque scenery of the river and wildlife over lunch. Small monkeys and baboons may attempt to intimidate you for your food, but there is no cause for concern. Following lunch, we will continue with the game drive and depart the park at approximately 4:30 PM. Following the excursion, we will proceed to our lodging at the campsite at Mto Wa Mbu. Day 02: Ngorongoro Crater to Arusha
On your final day of the Tanzania Safari, after breakfast and a picnic lunch, you will embark on a brief drive to the descent gate, followed by a drive down to the crater floor, which is 650 meters deep, for a half-day game tour. If fortunate, one may observe rhinoceroses; however, the crater is home to a variety of resident animals due to its year-round permanent water supply, which attracts many species that prefer to remain within the crater, although they are free to enter or exit as they wish. Post-lunch, mount the crater rim to return to camp, followed by a drive to Arusha.
Day 03: Materuni Waterfalls and Coffee Tour
Materuni is the residence of the Chagga tribe and is a genuine tribal community. This delightful location is situated approximately 15 kilometers from Moshi Town and serves as the final village preceding Kilimanjaro National Park. An English-speaking guide will collect you in the morning and transport you to Materuni Village. Upon arriving, you will register at the village office, and your journey may commence. Your initial destination will be the waterfalls, located approximately a 40-minute walk from your current position. Your guide will provide insights on Chagga culture, village life, and the surrounding fauna and plants during the journey. The vistas are indeed stunning, and with a stroke of fortune, you may witness the peak of Kilimanjaro. Upon arriving at the waterfalls, you will observe that they exceed 80 meters in height. The pool beneath the waterfall is an enticing location for a rejuvenating swim, so remember to bring your swimwear! Following your appreciation of the landscape, you gradually accompany your guide back to Materuni village, where you will partake in a traditional Chagga luncheon. You will also have the opportunity to sample our local banana beer — an experience not to be overlooked! Coffee excursion However, that is not the entirety. The coffee experience is forthcoming. This will provide insight into the cultivation, drying, roasting, and further processing of coffee. You will be encouraged to assist with the coffee grinding, traditionally accompanied by Chagga songs and dances, providing an enjoyable opportunity to engage with the local culture. Prior to bidding farewell, you may relish the coffee you prepared and admire the vistas of the adjacent jungle.
