Your 6 days Uganda safari & gorilla trekking expedition will encompass two principal tourist activities: a game drive in Queen Elizabeth National Park in the west and gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park in the southwest. The wildlife drives at Queen Elizabeth National Park offer exceptional vistas of leopards, Uganda Kobs, lions, especially the tree-climbing variety, waterbucks, buffaloes, and numerous other species. This protected region is renowned for its 620 unique bird species. A visit to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park offers remarkable encounters with approximately 400 rare mountain gorillas, including 11 habituated families designated for tourism. There are four primary trailheads (Buhoma, Nkuringo, Ruhija, and Rushaga) available for daily tracking.

Comprehensive itinerary
Day 1: Departure from Kampala to Queen Elizabeth National Park.
You will have breakfast early in the morning, then depart from Kampala to Queen Elizabeth National Park, approximately 417 kilometers away, which entails a drive of around 7 hours through the picturesque landscapes of Uganda, with a stopover at the Equator in Kayabwe, located about 77 kilometers from the capital city. The Equator spot provides exceptional vistas for capturing ideal images and serves as the demarcation between the northern and southern hemispheres. Subsequently, you will proceed through Lukaya, the foremost location for Muchomo merchants, and Masaka town before arriving at Lyantonde, and eventually reaching the Igongo cultural center, situated around 12 kilometers from Mbarara, for a traditional lunch at the renowned Kahwa Kanuzire. Upon concluding your lunch, you will commence your journey through the magnificent Bunyaruguru crater and Kalinzu forest, subsequently checking in at your selected lodge for dinner and overnight accommodation at Mweya Safari Lodge (luxury), Enganzi Game Lodge (midrange), or Pumba Safari Cottages (cheap).
Day 2: Morning game drive followed by an afternoon launch cruise on the Kazinga Channel.
After an early breakfast at your lodge, you will commence your much anticipated game drive to the Kasenyi area to search for four of the Big Five game species in Africa, along with additional animals. You will be able to observe lions, including tree-climbing lions, buffaloes, elephants, leopards, side-striped jackals, waterbucks, Uganda kobs, spotted hyenas, and numerous others. Subsequently, you will arrive at Mweya Peninsula for lunch, after which you will convene with other visitors at Mweya Jetty for an exhilarating afternoon launch cruise at 2:00 PM along the Kazinga Channel, where you will observe hippos, Nile crocodiles, and various avian species, including the yellow-billed stork and African skimmer, among others. Kazinga Channel connects Lake Edward and Lake George, serving as a primary drinking location for various wildlife species in Queen Elizabeth National Park. This experience will last a minimum of 2 hours, during which you will traverse the channel track, observing various wildlife species, before returning to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay at Mweya Safari Lodge (luxury), Enganzi Game Lodge (midrange), or Pumba Safari Cottages (basic).
Day 3: Comprehensive drive throughout the Ishasha region of Queen Elizabeth National Park
You will have breakfast early in your lodge and subsequently drive to the Ishasha sector, located around 75 kilometers north of Queen Elizabeth National Park, traversing the stunning savanna landscapes. On the southern part of the park, you will embark on wildlife observation to seek the elusive tree-climbing lions, which often repose on the branches of fig trees. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to observe several wildlife species, including buffaloes, elephants, waterbucks, and Uganda Kobs, among others. Upon your return to your designated resort, you will enjoy dinner and an overnight stay at either Ishasha Wilderness Camp (upmarket), Ishasha Jungle resort (midrange), or Savanna Resort (basic).

Day 4: Depart from Queen Elizabeth National Park to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park.
Awake early in the morning, partake in breakfast, and subsequently depart for Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park, traversing the picturesque landscape of Rukungiri and Kanungu districts. You will have a layover in rural areas to explore the coffee production process and the traditional methods employed by people in coffee cultivation in the past. Subsequently, you will proceed to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park, where you will enjoy dinner and an overnight stay at Chameleon Hill Lodge (upmarket), Gorilla Mist Camp (midrange), or Broadbill Forest Camp (basic).
Day 5: Gorilla trekking expedition in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park, followed by an evening transfer to Lake Bunyonyi.
After breakfast in the morning, you will convene with other visitors at the park headquarters in your designated tracking area for a briefing by the park official. Subsequently, you will proceed to the trailhead and commence your long-anticipated adventure through dense forests, steep slopes, valleys, and flowing streams. In addition to observing the rare mountain gorillas, you will also have the opportunity to identify numerous bird species. You will dedicate one hour to observing the general behavior of mountain gorillas and capturing as many photographs as possible. This expedition typically lasts between 1 to 8 hours, contingent upon your hiking pace, the characteristics of the environment, and the position of the designated habituated family. Subsequently, you will proceed to Lake Bunyonyi, one of Uganda’s most magnificent lakes, characterized by over 29 scattered islands that offer panoramic views of the lake, numerous islands, and the surrounding hills. You will then check in at either Birdnest @ Lake Bunyonyi Resort (luxury), Lake Bunyonyi Eco Resort (standard), or Byoona Amagara Island Retreat, among others.

Day 6: Return to Kampala
After an early breakfast at your lodge, you will embark on a trip back to Kampala, covering around 437 kilometers in nearly seven hours, traversing the breathtaking scenery of southwestern Uganda. Your itinerary includes a halt at Igongo Cultural Center for lunch and an Equator crossing at Kayabwe, followed by a return drive to Kampala, concluding your 6 days Uganda safari.
